It's saturday! Party time!

After an(other) intensive afternoon meeting for the Agora, it is time to leave behind numbers and meals, exceptions and rules, and head to the city center for celebrating Silvia's birthday.

We'll have great fun during dinner, eat cake and dance like there is no tomorrow. Although we are all aware that tomorrow there will be... another meeting :D

Leopard Fashion

One thing I love from AEGEE members is that we are a box of surprises. We have always many interests, hobbies and likes, apart from travelling and making friends all over Europe. And this is really enriching. For instance, not many people would suspect that one of the members from AEGEE-León, apart from Environmental Engineer and Spanish Language teacher in Voronezh, is behind one of the most popular and influential fashion blogs in Spain: Single and Fabulous. She has decided to write a post on her blog about Agora Alicante, paying tribute to Lía linked with the most remarkable trend of the past years: the leopard print invasion of catwalks and boutiques. And of course, of magazine front pages:

So, would you miss the opportunity to get yourself the Official Tshirt of the Agora?

(if due to copyright limitations in your country, you cannot see the previous video,
see the no-music version of the video below and sing your favourite song!)

The price of this wonderful T-shirt will be 7 euros at the Agora...but if you buy it now it will be just 6 euros, and you can be sure that you'll have one!!!! This is a limited edition!

Bueno, Bonito y Barato!!!! (Good, Nice and Cheap)

Now that we have convinced you, don't be selfish and think on your boyfriend/girlfriend, or for those members of your antenna that finally could not attend the Agora. Give him. her or them a nice surprise with the Agora T-shirt!

How can you buy the T-shirt?
Follow the instructions on http://www.agoraalicante.org/tshirts/

You can pay by Credit Card using the same system than for confirming Agora Applications.
In the unlikely case you have problems with the payment, please contact tshirts@agoraalicante.org

PS: if you want to know more about our nice model Lorena, stay tuned to this blog!

Another day at the office...

Being here, in the AEGEE office, completely alone, I start thinking: what the hell am I doing? Why am I spending my time on people I don’t know? I could be either lying on the beach or playing beach volley. Yesterday cleared up so I should have fixed up a match with my non-AEGEE friends (yes, I still keep them). “I’m not being paid for that job” thought, and of course I could have felt I was wasting my time. But I haven’t. Why? Because I’m being paid. “You said you wasn’t!” you yield it to me, but I was ripping you. In spite of money, I receive friendship. I don’t earn money, I earn knowledge.

1st May we’ll look back on what we did, and we will think we carried out a marvelous event. I’m pretty sure. Time is going on, but I’ll remember the whole life all the problems we had and how we fixed them, I’ll recall the meetings with the politicians of the City Council, I’ll call to mind …

Ending, just want to remind you a couple of  verses of my very best song of Guns ‘n Roses “sweet child of mind”: … “And pray for the thunder And the rain To quietly pass me by”. The storm, remember, will pass by.

Meet the team: Bene

Jose Miguel Benedicto, a.k.a. Bene is a YAG (Yet Another Geek) in our team.

Originally from Cadiz (not many people knows this fact), he has been one of the most active members of AEGEE Oviedo last years. Despite the fact his studies (specifically his thesis for masters degree) have kept him very busy lately, he decided to be active member again in AEGEE Oviedo as vicepresident and he's, together with Javi[pedia], responsible of the website that you visit so often to look for information about the Agora.

About his personality I can sum it up in two words: Geeky bear

Why geek?

Well, apart of combing his hair like a Super Saiyan everytime he goes to a party,  <p><b>obviously</b></p>, as a good IT he likes a lot any kind of stupid jokes, like this one: "Yo mama is uglier than Gollum eating a lemon" Same as me! #geeksanonymous, and he was planning to printf("Control the assistance of the %d participants with a bar code system", 842); But the flow of data (among 4815162342 operations per day) was way too much. Say thanks to the FSM he didn't manage to do it, lazy guys! But don't drink grog yet, we'll use a beholder to control those who try to go to the beaches of Tatooine during plennary time!

Why a bear?

Because he's too nice to be true! Still sometimes I can't understand how he can be so peaceful in moments of full stress, and also that nice to everyone that all the people remember him with a smile! That's why all the girls want to hug him, like a teddy bear... but be careful, the bear "bites"!

PD: If you understood the whole post without reading the links, then you are a real geek! :)
PD2: If you need, for a strange reason, to find someone to guide a random Nobel prize and his wife in Madrid, call Bene. He will take care of them!

Meet the team: Jaume

Our team is full of information resources. Apart from Javi[pedia] (with his vast knowledge on AEGEE stuff and his ability to search our organization database to get all details in just seconds), we count with Jaume, and his intensive knowledge on regional culture. From the local festivities to political ins and outs; from the gastronomy of the Alicante region to historical facts; Jaume is a source of useful data, and a very valuable resource for organizing the next Summer University with more content than ever. We could say he is the most truly Alicante guy in our team, as many of us come from Madrid, León, Murcia, Teruel, Coruña, Oviedo,...

His address book is also a useful for organizing stuff in Alicante, as he knows people almost anywhere. You'll discover during the Agora how he has been calling here and there to help the team get many things, for food and also for the Welcome Pack. He is a box of surprises!

But the most impressive thing of Jaume is that he is always available to give a helping hand to anyone who issues a request for help on our Mailing Lists. You can ask the Incoming Team for their opinion, as during the rush times of visas and letters, he spent hours in the office performing the most boring, mechanical tasks. Moreover, he was always in good mood and joking, saying that his work was so stupid that it could be done by a monkey. Now you know where his nickname came from :D   OOooooooOOOook!

Meet the team: Alicia E.

Somebody mentioned in our organizer's Mailing List that it was time for posting something about Alicia, one of the last members in joining our A-Team. And of course, I volunteered.

I have to admit that we don't really know each other for really long. But, as you all have experienced any time, just one AEGEE event is enough
to become attached to a person and grow a good friendship. And that's what happened between Alicia and me!!

We spent a whole week during one event organized by AEGEE-Wien a couple of months ago. Since then, we have kept contact more than often... almost daily! Sometimes just to say "Buenas noches".

This month is her first anniversary being member of AEGEE. In these 12 months she has attended a couple of events, and when she knew what an Agora is, and she realized that the next one is going to be in Alicante, she decided to give up everything and help the team as much as she can!!

She has become a very valuable organizer with lots of important achivements. Her last step has been spending a week in a hotel resort in Mexico just to get enough energy for our lasts weeks, before the show begins!! We are really proud of her bravery. And personally, I miss her a lot!

My advice for you, Spring Agora participant, is that you really need to be nice with her, because she will be one of the responsibles of waking you up each morning at the gym. And as I know, they are arranging a list of punishments for the lasts ones! And she looks really nice at first sight but... you don't really want to know how evil she can behave!

Update: Alicia is missing
We don't really know where is Alicia right now. There has been already a couple of days without getting any posts on Facebook about how amazing is spending the whole day among turtles, dophins and cocktails. The A-team is really worried (never jelous) about her situation and we wish to hear soon from her.

The last time some of us saw her she was wearing a blue bikini and a "piña colada" in her hand. Please, if you know anything about her, please comment on this post. We are worried she has been kidnapped in a revenge action from an angry antenna after stealing their flag.
